Overlooked by Vanity Fair magazine...again!!

Those who have the responsibility of putting together the annual yearly Hollywood edition of Vanity Fair magazine, have not included actress Holliday Grainger in their portfolio of rising male and female actors. This is a significant blow to those of us who were hoping that she might get the proper publicity to push her further towards getting noticed in Hollywood. In spite of one newspaper already claiming that she is a Hollywood star, the truth seems to be that she has sparked some possible interest from casting directors in Tinseltown, but is minimal; and there isn't really much evidence to suggest she is a household name here in the UK. The British versions of OK and Hello magazine have yet to do a proper interview and photoshoot with her. In spite of these publicity-orientated stumbling blocks, I am venturing to remain optimistic that come the latter half of 2013 and the first few months of 2014, Miss Grainger will be in every major celebrity fashion magazine and be earning a movie star salary. The length of her acting CV, and the quality of her performances should be rewarded with A-List stardom.

More bad news from BAFTA Central....

The hope I was clinging to that Holliday Grainger would get included in the list of BAFTA nominations for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of Estella in "Great Expectations" has been dashed. It is bad enough that she was omitted from those people up for the EE Rising Star Award, but this....I cannot put into words how dismayed I am with her exclusion from a BAFTA nod that could elevate her career towards leading lad status.

Bad news from BAFTA central.....

In spite of announcing the 2012 BAFTA Film Awards nominations alongside Daniel Radcliffe, Holliday Grainger has been overlooked by those who have been selected to pick the candidates for the 2013 EE BAFTA Rising Star Award. In the face of this disapointing piece of news, I am still clinging to the hope that her portrayal of Estella will guarantree her a BAFTA nomination in the category of Best Supporting Actress. I will keep you posted on developments....

New Holliday Grainger film project....

Excellent news! After a few months of wondering whether she was going to get a leading role in another film, Holliday Grainger has secured the part of Lucy in upcoming British vampire flick ''Hello Darkness", a role that had been vacated by friend and fellow actress Imogen Poots. Once I have more details, I will post them here.

An Oscar nod for Miss Grainger....?

Although the official list of the 2013 Academy Award nominees won't be announced until January 2013, Holliday Grainger's portrayal of Estella is certain to put her name into the arena of speculation as to which female thespians will be featured in the categories Best Actress In A Supporting Role and Best Actress In A Leading Role. She is, I am glad to say, mentioned in some of the Oscar prediction sites and blogs. Come the first month of 2013, we will know one way or the other whether Miss Grainger will be amongst the names read out for Best Supporting Acress.

One MQ pic of Miss Grainger as Estella is all they can offer....

After months of waiting, an image of Holliday as Estella has been uveiled online, but, regrettably, it is a medium quality one. I am dismayed that it wasn't a high-res photo. I have, therefore, not included it in this post, until I can find a version of this production still that is 400kb plus. I could use some help, though, in locating it.

Yet another disappointment regarding photos of Holliday Grainger as Estella....

Hi,

Another photo from the upcoming film adaptation of Great Expectations has been officially unveiled, but it is of Ralph Fiennes as Magwitch, not of Holliday Grainger. I am starting to believe even more that the publicity surrounding her portrayal of Pip's love interest is going to be reduced to a minimum. That may sound paranoid, but I am basing this assumption on the fact that David Walliams and Jessie Cave have seen images of them as the characters they are playing unveiled, even though those characters are lesser ones than the one that Miss Grainger is playing on screen. I just don't understand why whoever is in charge of marketing is taking so long to release a photo of her as Estella.  Grrrr...it's maddening!

Still no photo of Miss Grainger in "Great Expectations".....

I am sorry to report that not a single photo of Holliday Grainger as Estella in "Great Expectations", not even an image of her on the set has appeared online. I will, of course, continue to keep asking, and, wherever necessary, keep pushing until one such promtiional still is released officially by the film company distributing it.

It's official....Holliday Grainger is one of the new Brit movie clique - 'The Corset Crew'!

It is one hundred percent official...Holliday Grainger is a member of the new British movie clique called 'The Corset Crew'. She is surrounded by a group of friends that all belong to a specialist crowd of actors & actresses, such as Douglas Booth, Freddie Fox (pictured directly behind Miss Grainger), Ellie Kendrick, Vanessa Kirby (the current TV Estella), Jeremy Irvine, Sam Claflin, Kaya Scodelaario, Tamsin Egerton. To the left of Holliday are two of her friends/co-stars: Alexandra Roach, who has been working alongside her on the new movie version of 'Anna Karenina', and Tamzin Merchant, who starred alongside Holly in 'Jane Eyre', as well as being the new girlfriend of Freddie. This is a far cry from the days when she was commonly associated with the northern acting scene. Now, she is one of the new gathering of potential A-listers that will ensure that the movie costume drama is here to stay.

The long road to stardom......

If any British-born child actress can claim to have taken a long road to stardom, which has seen them go through childhood and adolescence, culminating with entry into womanhood, then Holliday Grainger certainly can. It has taken from her to a child of six acting in a TV comedy drama to a Hollywood leading lady-in-waiting, as his been stylishly and visibly displayed when she walked down the red carpet last Sunday at the 2012 Orange BAFTA Film Awards. However, if this doesn't put her on Hollywood's radar, her portrayal of Estella in the forthcoming movie adaptation of 'Great Expectations' [production images of her as Miss Havisham's adopted daughter coming soon] surely will. After 18 years of being a working actress, we might well be seeing referring to her as a movie superstar from now on.

No interview in InStyle March 2012 issue......

Sorry to have to report that the March 2012 issue of InStyle magazine does not have an interview with Holliday Grainger. Hopefully, they will have one in the April edition. If they don't do a feature on her in that issue either, then I will complain. I will keep you posted on any such developments.

Just to prove it wasn't just a rumour.....

In case you thought the reports were wrong about Holly Grainger helping to announce the official BAFTA Film nominations, here are some images, as promised, to prove the reports in the media as being correct.

As soon as I have the promo pics of Miss Grainger as Estella, I will be adding them too.

Bad news and good news..........

Sorry about me taking a while to post another entry, but there was nothing new to report. I have returned with bad news and good news: the bad is regarding the availability of promo pics of Holly Grainger as Estella - there are still none; the good is to do with the BAFTAs, as Miss Grainger will be announcing the official nominations for the awards for the film industry alongside Daniel Radcliffe. This event will be on Tuesday morning. Hopefully, there might be pics; if there are, I will post them here.

No publicity stills of Holly Grainger as Estella have surfaced yet....

Even though publicity stills of Jeremy Irvine and Helen Bonham Carter as their characters in 'Great Expectations' have now surfaced, no such photograph of Holly as Estella has made an appearance. This is something that is making me anxious because it is starting to look as if her role in the film is being sidelined publicity-wise. I hope this isn't the case, but, given that these two images were made available within twenty-four hours of one another, if nothing in the way of a production still from this movie featuring Miss Grainger portraying Pip's love interest gets to see the light of day within the next couple of weeks, I will be forced into the assumption that all publicity regarding her will be kept to a bare minimum, dimishing her chances of getting her big breakthrough.

No invitation for Holly to the 2011 BAFTA Brits To Watch event......

You would have thought that Miss Grainger being cast in the role of Estella in the latest cinema adaptation of 'Great Expectations' would have secured her a definite invitation to the BAFTA's Brits To Watch event in Los Angeles, co-hosted by Prince William and his wife Catherine Middleton, but alas, she hasn't been invited. Once again, the British Academy of Film & Television Awards body has ignored performers from the northern part of the UK and stuck with those from the southern half of the country. Typical!

Breaking news...Holly wins the role of Estella in 'Great Expectations'!!

Within the last day or so, Holly Grainger has secured the coveted role of Estella in the newest film version of Dickens' classic novel 'Great Expectations'. She is set to share screen time with another rising star, Jeremy Irvine, who will be playing Pip. This is sure to be another step towards her becoming an A-list Hollywood leading lady. I'll keep you posted on the progress of her latest movie project.

Bye for now,

The Borgias gets second seres....

'The Borgias' has generated enough success, as well as high enough viewing figures, to greenlight a second series of the drama.  Let's hope that this news aids Holly Grainger's steady climb towards superstar status.

You wait for a Holly Grainger magazine scan...and then two come along at once!!

It's always the way - you wait for two Holly Grainger magazine scans....and then two come along at the same time. The first is from the 2011 edition of the Vanity Fair Hollywood Special; the second is from the March 2011 issue of InStyle Magazine.  Hopefully, there'll be more scans to come when Holly reaches the A-list. I doubt you'll have long to wait for that to occur....

See you again soon,
JDT.
